Calling all high school students!

Get a head start on college preparation this summer with Strategic Academic Success. Let local expert educational consultant Alex Peruta guide you through the major components of the college application process and walk away knowing that you have maximized the potential of your applications. All workshops are hands-on and will include guides, worksheets, and dedicated time to work on large portions of your applications.

There are six workshop topics. All six workshops will be held at four different times throughout the summer and early fall. Please note that is is not necessary to attend any particular workshop topic more than once. Please feel free to mix and match the dates and times that work best for your schedule. Each workshop will be 3 hours long. The morning session is from 9AM-12PM and the afternoon session is from 1-4PM.

*Please select the date for the first workshop you would like to attend. If you are registering for more than one workshop, you will have the ability to select the specific workshops you would like to sign up for after the payment page.

Please note that these workshops are designed for rising 9-12th grade students. Please see the individual descriptions for the recommended grade range.

Resume/Activity Grid

- Rising 9-12th graders

  • All high school students should have a resume that they can use to apply for everything from high school internships to college applications. There are many strategies applicants can employ in order to showcase their unique strengths and individual interests. Come join us, and Alex will walk you through the process of writing an exceptional resume and comprehensive activity list.

    Offered: June 21st, July 26th, August 16th, and September 22nd from 9AM-12PM

Filling Out the Common Application

- Rising 12th graders

  • Filling out the Common Application can be an overwhelming task. In this workshop, Alex will provide helpful tips and strategies for filling out the Common Application and answer any and all questions that may arise. You will complete a major portion of the Common Application by attending this workshop!

    Offered: June 21st, July 26th, August 16th, and September 22nd from 1-4PM

Main College Essay

- Rising 11-12th graders

  • Learn how to pick a unique college essay topic that will fit your personality, student profile, and interests. This workshop will include time to outline, draft and meet one-on-one with Alex to review your main college essay.

    Offered: June 22nd, July 27th, August 17th, and September 29th from 9AM-12PM

College Interviews

- Rising 11-12th graders

  • What is Alex’s first tip when it comes to college interviews? If they’re optional, do it anyway! This is a great opportunity to stand out in a good way. In this session, Alex will break down what to expect on interview day and how to successfully conduct yourself in a college interview. You will work with practice interview questions, do a mock interview with Alex, and receive insightful feedback.

Leadership Project

- Rising 9-12th graders

  • Extensive leadership experience is an incredibly effective way to distinguish yourself, and the earlier you start, the better! In this workshop, Alex will focus on how to build and carry out a successful leadership project that pertains to your interests, as well as how to properly showcase your hard work to colleges and universities.

    Offered: June 23rd, July 28th, August 18th, and October 6th from 9AM-12PM

Supplemental College Essays

- Rising 11-12th graders

  • There are three main topics that students are frequently asked to discuss for the supplemental portions of many college applications: 1) Why do you want to attend this college/university? 2) Why did you choose this major? 3) Discuss an activity. This workshop will focus on strategies for approaching these questions and will allow time for drafting answers and meeting one-on-one with Alex.
