A 5-day virtual workshop for high school seniors & transfer students. We offer students an opportunity to develop powerful admission essays.

About this event
You want your college essay to make a difference. Virtual Camp will be interactive and engaging. you will have time to create on your own, come together for advice, participate in online peer revision with other young writers led by Teacher Consultants, revise and build better essays together.
During the 5-day VIRTUAL program, students will:
- Learn to share your story in a way that will stand out to your readers and positively impact your future
- Receive personal attention and feedback
- Determine the most effective techniques
- Hear advice from college admission officers
- Learn about the role of admission and application essays, including: personal insight questions, details, and structures for a strong essay in the application process (UC guidelines); Common Application, Coalition Prompts, Scholarship Prompts, and any other College Admission writing response prompts
A follow-up session with a Teacher Consultant will be scheduled in October 2022.
Cost is $375. $50 non-refundable processing fee included. Eventbrite service fees apply. Participation in this program does not influence admission to UCSD.

FAQs
What will a typical virtual day look like? Camp will consist of both synchronous and asynchronous time together as a class. Days can vary based on the activities planned, but the following time frame is a guide to a typical day.
8:30-9:30 Lesson activity of the day
9:30-10:15 Breakout sessions/writing response groups
10:15-11:15 Writing time
11:15-11:30 Sharing/final remarks
Expect to spend 30-60 minutes writing/reading to prepare for the next day's activities.
What platforms are going to be used? We will be using UCSD-secured Zoom and Google Docs (Google account required). Personal email may be used during the program.
What materials will I need? You will need a computer with stable access to the internet. We recommend: laptop, Chromebook, desktop computer, iPad -- smart phones are not suitable for this program.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? Students entering 12th grade in Fall 2022 and college students planning to a transfer to a 4-year college in 2022.

What's the refund policy? No refunds after July 11th.
Is there a sibling discount? Additional sibling—$350 each. A partial refund will be processed after the first day of camp.
Note to parents: This camp requires that participants have access to Google Docs. Please make sure your teen has either a Google Account or a Gmail address before registering. This will ensure your teen will have access to all the resources and material for the camp.
To find out if your teen’s email is already linked to a Google Account:
- Visit the Google Accounts password change page. (https://accounts.google.com/signin/usernamerecovery)
- Enter any email address you think you might've used to create a Google Account.
- If Google does not recognize it, you'll immediately see a message. Below the message, you'll see a link to create a Google Account using that email address.
If your teen doesn't have a Google Account but does have an email address already, you can create a Google account for them using that email address. If your teen doesn't have an email address, you can create one with Gmail, at https://accounts.google.com/SignUp.
If at the end of camp you want to delete the account:
- Go to myaccount.google.com.
- At the left, click Data and personalization.
- Scroll to "Download, delete, or make a plan for your data."
- Click Delete a service or your account.
- Click Delete your account.
