Event description

Description

Are you curious about how to apply the latest positive psychology research in workplaces? Wondering how you get a leadership team to sign off these 'softer' approaches? Wish you had a tribe of like-minded practitioners with whom you could share best practices and resources?

Then this event could be for you.

Designed to explore bite-sized ideas fuelled by science and powered by real world experiences that help organisations (and people) apply the insights and practices of positive psychology in workplaces, you'll discover:

  • The Mountain Of Trust as Garry Davis presents an intriguing perspective on organisation engagement and response to change viewed through the lens of the psychological contract. And, more importantly, what you can do about it.
  • Connected Leadership as Cassandra Goodman shares research, insights and practical strategies about how we help people to thrive by accessing creativity (head), compassion (heart) and courage (gut) and in doing so challenges some of our established norms about ‘working 9 to 5, trying to make a living’.
  • Balancing your stress and energy as Duncan Young shares his experiences of using a heart rate variability monitoring program to provide insights on the triggers of stress and practical solutions for energy renewal which are key to healthy and productive workplaces based on his heart rate variability.

You'll also have the opportunity to ask these speakers for their guidance on ways to apply positive psychology in any workplace.

Best of all you'll have time to meet a like-minded tribe of positive psychology researchers and practitioners. Every one of them looking for tested, practical ways to make our workplaces better.

About The Speakers

Garry Davis

Garry’s corporate career included more than a decade in executive HR and OD roles in the public and private sectors. His innate curiosity for human behaviour fuelled constant self-development, helping him identify his passion: The fields of neuroscience and psychology; and how they help organisations drive engagement, wellbeing, culture change and performance. His work has been recognised at the Australian Psychological Society Workplace Excellence Awards and the Positive Business Awards at University of Michigan. Garry holds a variety of accreditations and has recently completed the Professional Certificate in Positive Psychology at Melbourne University.

Cassie Goodman

Cassandra is a high energy leader with international experience across five industries. Previously global Director of Employee Engagement & Experience at Bupa, and more recently appointed General Manager Experience Transformation at Australian Unity, Cassandra believes that the way we organise ourselves to get work done is in need of radical transformation and that many of the current ways of working are no longer fit for purpose. Cassandra suggests that in order to navigate the complex challenges that we face, organisations must employee new thinking and new approaches to ensure that their people are thriving.

Duncan Young

Duncan has a strong background in workplace design and delivery developed over his 20 year career working with Lend Lease in Australia, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. He is passionate about health and wellbeing and is a knowledge expert in the complexity of multi interventional health and wellbeing programs and how ‘places’ can anchor successful programs. He has worked with a range of clients, both locally and internationally to unlock the opportunities of wellbeing as a driver of high performance. Duncan believes that people are the key to the success of any company and that healthy and engaged workforces create healthy and successful businesses.

This event is part of the Collective Insights Series and is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Michelle McQuaid, Jo Fisher, Elise Morris, Jo Murray, Garry Davis, Rebecca Melville and Lyndall Dugdale who are committed to translating positive psychology into action for workplaces.
