Event description

Description

Collective Cartography is a community workshop where we discuss Evanston's geography, resources, and equity all in the form of collective hand-drawn map-making. During the workshop, our celebrations and concerns come to life on a large scale depiction of our city, as it becomes a living document displaying where Evanston has been and where it can go. Participants will be able to speak their opinions, hear others' stories, and contribute to public discourse around our community's future.

This partcular workshop is for the female-identified only! Well...almost. Jason will be facilitating through questions, but you women will be in power the whole time. Through a focused time on the female Evanston, we hope to inform each other and the public about the needs and demands women have, placed in our city.

You and your neighbors are the experts of our city - or at least some significant part of it. We need your hands to help us get a grasp of what was, is, and could be happening here.

The completed map will go on public display in a group show in 2018, sharing our discoveries and insights with the community.

What do I get out of this?

- A new perspective on how to approach questions of community and equity - spatially!
- The chance to discover and discuss what the next steps could be in your passion project.
- An opportunity to network and share will fellow female change- and justice-seekers.
- Even some free food!

Come, let's discover, draw, and discuss.
