Event description

Description

Seeking Evanston's north-side leaders, advocates, and artists!

Collective Cartography is a community workshop where we discuss Evanston's geography, resources, and equity all in the form of collective hand-drawn map-making. During the workshop, our celebrations and concerns come to life on a large scale depiction of our city, as it becomes a living document displaying where Evanston has been and where it can go. Participants will be able to speak their opinions, hear others' stories, and contribute to public discourse around our community's future.

This particular workshop will focus on the places, needs, and resources of North Evanston. You and your neighbors are the experts of our city - or at least some significant part of it. We need your hands to help us get a grasp of what was, is, and could be happening here.

The completed map will go on public display in a group show in 2018, sharing our discoveries and insights with the community.

What do I get out of this?
- A new perspective on how to approach questions of community and equity - spatially!
- The chance to discover and discuss what the next steps could be in your passion project.
- An opportunity to network and share with fellow change- and justice-seekers.
- Even some free food!

RSVP today. While this workshop is free and open to the public, space is limited!

Come, let's discover, draw, and discuss.

Sponsorship:

This event is brought to you by a partnership between Jason Brown, Ald. Eleanor Revelle (7th Ward), and the Evanston Art Center. This workshop series is sponsored by the Evanston Arts Council, through the Cultural Fund Grant.
