"Solid Flux" with Jennie Trueman

This week's Collection Bites explores some examples of crystal and rock formations from our vast collection that reveal remarkable, natural and intensely dramatic processes that make rocks rock.

Come and see for yourself how our rocks' stories defy their static and perhaps sometimes boring appearance. From processes as quick as lightning and other igneous explosions to slow sedimentary formations and metamorphic reformations that take millennia, rocks have depths that go from the core of the earth to the outer limits of time and space, which also tell us so much about our planet’s history, including clues to life itself!

Collection Bites are half an hour talks hosted by our Visitor Team every other Monday. Our Visitor Team are on the museum floor with our collections every day so are perfectly placed to give bite-sized introductions to our collection - with a bit of a contemporary twist.

Have a look at some of the stories so far on the Visitor Team blog: https://storiesfromthemuseumfloor.wordpress.com/

Collection Bites take place in the Collections Study Centre on the 3rd floor, and are free to attend. There is no need to book, just meet at reception 10 minutes before the start of the talk.
