About this event
Dunstable Memories in Stitch
FREE workshop led by local textile artist Anne Kermarrec. Whether beginner or experienced at hand stitching, you will be shown how to make your Dunstable memory into a stitched picture. Submit a photo of a person, building or object and tell us how it relates to the theme of 'Dunstable Memories'. All materials will be provided and you will be guided through the process of 'drawing in stitch'.
Anne was winner of the Dunstable Library portrait competition and took part in the Dunstable Art Trail with her stitched artworks. Her technique is simple enough for all ages and abilities, but adaptable for more experienced embroiderers too.
Alternatively, use images, tickets, fabric or other items to create a collage from your memorabilia. You can use photos of the town, buildings, people, or take a photo of an object that is special to you. You might have a ticket from an event, a payslip from your workplace, or photos of a particular group of people. We can photocopy and print so there is no need to use or damage precious originals. A creative way to protect and celebrate your memories.
Part of the High Streets Heritage Action Zone scheme and funded by Historic England, Arts Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
