Collaborate to Succeed 5
Event Information
Description
Does filling your talent pipeline feel stuck in the past?
Collaborate to Succeed5 will showcase area best practices proven to increase talent retention. Collaborate's presentations, facilitated by your partners in the workforce development system, will provide you with actionable information focusing on key takeaways that you can effectively implement as part of your business strategy
At Collaborate to Succeed, we share best practices by area businesses centered on the themes of attracting, hiring, developing and retaining talent. This year, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, when women earned the Right to Vote, and its effect on our workforce.
NOTE: A request for 5 CEU credits for HRCI and SHRM has been submitted, but not yet approved.
Our agenda features:
-
8a-8:15a: Debbie Warga of the State of Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development will provide a top-level overview of the current state of our region's workforce.
-
8:15-9:30a: JoAnn Hall of Moraine Park Technical College will demonstrate how a scarcity mindset by your workers who are in poverty affects their judgement and, ultimately, their ability to drive profitability for your business. Jo Ann's presentation will also feature guided, table top small group discussions to provide you with leadership skills to better address this issue in your workplace.
-
9:45-10:30a: Brandon Bonfiglio of Pierce Manufacturing will show how using data to identify barriers to employment led to their innovative GED-to-Work initiative that allowed them to tap into a new talent pool. The program was partially funded by a Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant and facilitated by Fox Valley Technical College.
-
10:45-11:30a: Caitlin Stoll is the Director of Happiness at Drexel Building Supply where they are maniacs about their culture. Over the past decade, Drexel has developed an authentic culture designed to engage its team members, create opportunities for growth, and to supply happiness to its workforce.
-
12:15-12:45p: Our "Happiness Scavenger Hunt" will encourage participants to network, mingle and share best happiness practices that we encourage at our workplaces in this fun, idea crowd-sourcing activity.
-
12:45-1:45p: How do Affinity Groups help your organization to retain talent and what steps would your business need to take to tap into this resource? Adrienne Hartmann, representing Women in Technology, Jason Rae, representing the Wisconsin LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, and Stephanie Vander Zanden, representing Schrieber Foods, will discuss how their groups inspire workplace loyalty.
-
2-3p: With the passage of the 19th Amendment and the right to vote, women began to make in-roads into non-traditional areas of employment. However, after 100 years there are still industries and jobs where women remain under-represented. Jessie Lloyd of FVTC, Karissa Dums of Muza Metal, Kristie Krause of Hoffmaster and UAW Local 2-169, and Emilie Wiltzius of Shea Electric & Communications will discuss what attracted them to a non-traditional work role and how businesses can attract more women to these career opportunities.
*Topics and presenters are subject to change.
