We will be having an awesome group of speakers covering a wide range of photography related topics.

What is Collab? Started in 2005, it's a monthly art salon, creative mixer, network/collaboration event and a place to help figure out what you want to get up to next. Anyone is welcome, it's super easy to meet people, share ideas, get inspired, find collaborators, or get help on your project! It is a creative retreat for artists, entrepreneurs, techies, makers, mad scientists, film folk, performers, investors, inventors and all around awesome creatives. Our guest speakers are structured around an ask and give format. They share their projects, their experiences, and their amazing talents. In return, they make an ask of the community to help make their creative dreams reality.

GUEST SPEAKERS FOR DECEMBER - "PHOTOGRAPHY- PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE"

Mei Xian Qiu, a Los Angeles–based international photographer will join us on Tuesday. Mei's transnational upbringing across Java and the United States forms the basis of her complex work - combining inquiry into identity, displacement, and futurity. Born into a Chinese minority community and given multiple names at birth as anticipatory acts, she works at the intersection of lived history and imagined possibility. Her practice traces how selves are fractured, transported, and continually rewritten within shifting political and cultural terrains.

Robert Nelson, fine art visual concepts and character portraits. Twenty years of gallery work. Best known for his shows Mind's Eye and Rated R, and portraits of pop culture celebrities like Pierre Bernard (Pierre Bernard's Recliner of Rage).

Brian Knapmiller is a Los Angeles-based award winning Director/Writer/Producer. Brian has made most of his career in the world of unscripted television, working as a showrunner, producer, director, and writer across a variety of networks and genres. But his greatest passion is still focused on stories that highlight personal stories of triumph over struggle, and exploring subcultures and parts of society others find taboo, controversial, or simply misunderstand.
