Event description

Description

Join us in the Colestin Valley, at this spectacular recently conserved 160-acre property with trails, oak woodlands, Acorn Woodpeckers and more, located 20 miles south of Ashland. Learn from property owners, Stan Dean and Katharine Bronwen, about what makes this land special, best management practices and about our Colestin-Siskiyou Summit Focus Area. The hike will pass through oak savannah, oak chaparral and some conifer forest. Fall color in the Colestin Valley may be at its peak. If the weather is clear there will also be good views of Mt. Shasta and the Siskiyou Crest. So, come join us and witness the love and care Stan and Katharine have shown this special place.

Both are graduates of the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Service Land Steward Program. Stan is a retired engineer who serves on the Advisory Council for the Land Steward Program, and current Director with the Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District and Commissioner for the Oregon Soil and Water Conservation Commission.

Focus: Ecology, View, Conservation, Land Management

Meeting Location: Near Hilt, CA, across Oregon border. Exact meeting location and directions will be emailed upon registration.
