Cole County Informational Meeting
Tue, April 4, 2017, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM CDT
I’m excited to invite you to a gathering of community and church leaders to discuss the CarePortal Initiative for Cole County and the surrounding area. This gathering will take place on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Joshua House Church, 1136 E. Dunklin St., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
CarePortal combines technology with grassroots leadership to engage, connect, and equip local churches to care for local at-risk children and families right in their own community. State, contracted agencies and community agencies identify needs as they work with families in the community, these agencies then share the needs on the CarePortal website and CarePortal Technology brings those needs to the email inbox of church staff and lay leaders who then mobilize their church to respond.
CarePortal communication is only the beginning. Once churches engage and see the challenges facing families in their communities, and participate in the integrated response to help them, churches begin collaborating with each other in new ways. What may start as meeting of physical needs can translate into meeting relational and family needs as people in your church become more deeply involved with their neighbors.
The current system for caring for families and children in crisis is reactive, not proactive. It doesn’t engage the many but it taxes the few. The CarePortal can be part of changing that in your community by allowing your church to do a little and share the responsibility of caring for your community with many others. I’m looking forward to discussing this with you.
