For the fourth year, the Springfield Rescue Mission is presenting a great opportunity for people to learn about homelessness and the long-term effects of addiction by participating in this great fundraiser! Taking part in our COLDEST DAY 5K will give people a first-hand look at what it’s like to walk the streets of Springfield, experiencing the cold stark winter air, the solitude of the streets, and the loneliness that surround homeless people every day.
On Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10AM, we will join together for a 5K walk/run, not only for the exercise but also to educate the public on the realities homeless people experience all winter long. We'll leave the Rescue Mission at 10 Mill Street, walk down Main Street to our Emergency Shelter at 148 Taylor Street (the half-way point) and return to 10 Mill Street along the same route.
Upon completion of the 5K participants will receive a COLDEST DAY 5K long sleeve tee. We’ll have snacks and beverages available inside the Rescue Mission after the race!
