Event description

Description

On February 10th – 11th, we have cold weather survival training scheduled with the 212th rescue squadron on Elmendorf at Alaska Wing Headquarters. This will be an overnight event and will involve both classroom time as well as practical exercises outside. Cadets will get to build survival shelters and sleep in them overnight.

The class is limited to the first 15 cadet participants and first 6 senior member participants. Registration fee for the activity is $30.00.

If there is sufficient interest and attendance, we will use this cold weather training as a stepping block for a winter camping trip to occur in early spring.

All cadets participating WILL bring a complete 72 hour pack, minus a couple items {the tent, toiletries (soap etc), and extra uniform}. Bunny boots are highly recommended (white or black). All cadets should bring a pack/snow shovel, survival knife/small saw, snowshoes, a bivy sack, and a camping stove/pot as part of their kit.

Uniform for the training is ABUs/BDUs. All cadets must wear appropriate cold weather gear. If cadets do not have gortex jackets and/or pants, please make sure that they have sufficient civilian cold weather gear.

For all cadets attending, please conduct a bag drag/equipment check prior to February 10th. Some of the training the cadets will go through can be counted for ground team sign offs (ie prepare individual equipment, cold weather injuries, natural hazards…) Packing list will be sent to signed up members.

REQUIRED FORMS… CAPF 31 and CAPF 161 All cadet participating MUST submit all required forms on time. If you do not send your forms in your application will be dropped and moved to the waitlisted personnel.
