Event description

Description

Join Little Stony Point Citizens' Association and Riverkeeper for a Shoreline Cleanup at Sandy Beach and by kayak up to Breakneck on Saturday, May 4, 2019 for the 8th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep, a day of service for the Hudson River and its tributaries.

Volunteers will meet at the entrance to Little Stony Point Park, by the bridge over Metro-North tracks just north of Cold Spring on Route 9D. Parking is available in the lot or along Route 9D. We ask all Sweep volunteers to wear sturdy shoes, boots, clothing that they can get dirty, and to bring work gloves, a hat, work gloves, a reusable water bottle, and snacks. If paddling, bring your own kayak that can take abuse. PFDs are MANDATORY at all times. the will still be cold, so you should dress for immersion and bring a change of clothes. We hug the shoreline and climb out often- the bank is extremely rough- paddlers remaining in boats are very helpful in ferrying detritus back to the beach. This site is appropriate for elementary age children with proper adult supervision.

Sweep would not be possible without the support of Riverkeeper volunteers and members. Magnify your impact at Sweep by donating to or sharing our Sweep Fundraising campaign! When you build your own Facebook Fundraiser or support an existing one, you demonstrate your commitment to a trash-free Hudson and inspire your network to support Riverkeeper's work to protect the Hudson River and its tributaries. You and your supporters will become Riverkeeper members, and the more members we have standing with us, the more we can accomplish together.
