This workshop focus on the following statements by Mr. Antonio Guterres the Secretary General of the United Nations in August and September 2019 using the words of: “Implementation of the Kigali Amendment will be front and centre for climate action. We need all countries to develop national cooling action plans to deliver efficient and sustainable cooling and bring essential lifepreserving services like vaccines and safe food to all people. We are calling for concrete and enhanced actions from industry. The leadership of global leading companies is essential to realize the vision into reality.” This endorse a "Rome Declaration" to promote a sustainable cold chain all over the world.

10 am: The role of the IIR in the Rome’s Declaration (Didier Coulomb, IIR)

10.20 am: Role of UN Environment– OzonAction in addressing Cold Chain under Montreal Protocol (Ayman Eltalouny, UN Environment)

10.40 am: Activities of the IIR WG Cold Chain in Hot Countries (Halima Thraya and Ina Colombo)

11 am: The role of refrigeration in worldwide nutrition (Jacques Guilpart)

11.30 am: Final Questions and Close

The Rome declaration in line with the work of IIR: Refrigeration is indeed essential for human life and will be increasingly used, particularly in developing countries, to ensure food safety and health. Developing a sustainable cold chain, taking into account environmental impacts, is a national and international priority to put in place these "National Action Plans for refrigeration”.
