With the release of the new album Rove, Nova Scotia's powerhouse Còig has cemented its status as one of todays most exciting new North American Celtic groups. With a combined total of over 30 group and solo awards and nominations, the four members of the band are already recognized as major stars of the Celtic world. Rove is drawing rave reviews from fans and critics and has recently been recognized with a 2018 East Coast Music Award for Traditional/Roots Recording of the Year, a 2018 JUNO Award nomination, and 2017 Canadian Folk Music Award and Music Nova Scotia Award nominations.

As a Canadian fiddler with a firm foundation in the traditional music of Cape Breton and the irrepressible curiosity of an artist driven to create and discover, Chrissy Crowley is now bringing her music worldwide. She has performed throughout the world from Europe to Latin America, captivating audiences with a talent that belies her youth. Her music is in a new direction; a path of fearless innovation which has earned the fiddler a 2013 Canadian Folk Music Award, a Top 20 Under 20 in Canada award, and numerous East Coast Music Association and Music Nova Scotia nominations. Chrissy’s new release is titled “Last Night’s Fun.” To maintain a fresh and lively sound that often gets lost in a recording process, all track arrangements took place the night before each studio session. The result is an album recorded with the same energy and spontaneity you’d find in Chrissy’s live shows… an honest and raw sound once described as ”fiery fiddle playing with a distinctly mischievous personality” (Tim Readman, Penguin Eggs Magazine).”

With a hard driving fiddle style and an infectiously joyful stage presence, Cape Breton fiddler Rachel Davis is quickly moving to the forefront of the traditional music scene in Atlantic Canada. Born and raised in Baddeck, Cape Breton, Rachel feels as comfortable on a festival or concert stage as she does in a dance hall back home. She has brought her music to venues around the world, including across Canada, the United States, England, Scotland, France, and Australia. First learning the fiddle from her grandfather, Clarence Long, she fondly recalls sitting in a corner of his barbershop, squeaking away at tunes under his careful guidance. Her musical roots run deep, which becomes very apparent from her obvious joy that she exudes on stage, and has earned her a reputation as one of the best Cape Breton style fiddlers on the go.

Darren McMullen is a highly sought after multi-instrumentalist based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. His list of on-stage weapons includes mandolin, bouzouki, tenor banjo, whistles, guitar and bass. Darren has been behind one instrument or another since the age of four – first a piano then a guitar then anything he could lay his hands on. His first regular gig was with the hugely popular Halifax band “The Cornerboys”. Since then, Darren has been busy touring and performing with a wide range of bands including the Colin Grant Band, Pogey, Dave Gunning, Matt Andersen, Bruce Guthro, Matt Minglewood, David Francey, Gillian Boucher, Troy MacGillivray, Andrea Beaton, Rachel Davis, Anna Ludlow, and Chrissy Crowley. In the fall of 2010, Darren was hired by The Rankins for their 22 date Acoustic Tour, and again in 2012 for 14 more Canadian dates.
