Coffee, Cake and Islam
Wed 16 November 2016, 18:30 – 20:00 GMT
Coffee, Cake and Islam is a unique event which brings together some of my favourite things in life! It is a weekly event, designed to facilitate people from all walks of life to come together and learn about Islam in a comfortable, colloquial and conversational way, while sipping some coffee and munching on some cake.
In our world today, Islam is more and more in the spotlight, and often not for the right reasons. The religion has been hijacked by extremists who use the religion, the name of which means "peace", to spread a hateful ideology in order to further their materialistic ambitions of land and oil accumulation. In times like these, where misinformation is rampant about Islam, it becomes difficult to know what is true and what is false. For this, "Coffee, Cake & Islam" meets an important need: that of educating people on what Islam really teaches.
Topics as wide ranging as women's rights, civic duties in Islam, loyalty to one's country, relationship with non-Muslims, terrorism and extremism, beliefs about God and our relationship with Him, will all be covered.
It is often asked where the Muslims are who denounce extremism and present the real peaceful teachings of the religion. Well, we're right here, and we're waiting for you (with a cup of coffee and a slice of homemade cake...mmm...).
Date/Time: Every Wednesday, 1830
