Event description

Description

The Board of Directors play a vital role in the success of any nonprofit organization. The individuals who offer their time and talent as board members bring unique perspectives, skills, and experiences that shape your mission and strategy. A board that is diverse in lived and professional experience, age, ethnic and gender, and skills and competencies can be even more effective. Diverse boards can help organizations see and incorporate into their work critical perspectives that may otherwise be missed. What would a diverse board look like for your organization? If your board is not as diverse as you’d like, what steps might you take to encourage greater diversity? How do you fully engage members once they join?

We invite you and your board members to join Community Foundation of Louisville staff and your nonprofit colleagues for Coffee & Conversation as we discuss board diversity in the nonprofit sector. We will host this 1-hour session at two times for your convenience. Please join us at either 9am or 2pm on Thursday, October 17. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Matisa Wilbon, Wilbon Enterprises, who will share strategies to encourage and maintain diversity on your nonprofit boards. Additionally there will be an opportunity to share your experiences and ideas in a small group discussion with your nonprofit colleagues.

When: Thursday, October 17, 9:00 AM or 2:00 PM

Where: Community Foundation of Louisville, 325 W Main Street, Suite 1110.

If you have questions, contact Deja Jackson, Dejaj@cflouisville.org or 502.855.6968.
