Event description

Description

This school holidays, Coding4Kids will be taking a trip down memory lane. This workshop will have kids building and coding a 2-player digital interpretation of the traditional Duck, Duck, Goose! game.

Children aged 7-16 are invited to attend this a jam-packed day working with Arduino micro-electronics, learning about basic circuitry, and coding a game from the ground up. No experience is necessary. The event is catered to newcomers as well as those code ninjas who have been attending since the beginning. After all, there is always something new to learn!

As with previous workshops, children will be allowed to follow through the tutorial at their own pace and will receive guided assistance throughout.

All materials will be provided on the day and the finished product can be taken home. The cost of the ticket also includes a ticket handling fee.

SEATS ARE LIMITED!!

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This event is designed to cater to children aged 7-16. This is largely due to the need for children to be capable of typing on a computer keyboard. Events catering to audiences younger than 7 will be made available subject to demand.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

On-campus parking will be available for free on the day of the event. Following event registration, you will receive a map to the drop-off/pick-up point for ease of navigation.

What can I bring into the event?

Children are required to wear closed-in shoes on the day so as to meet JCU guidelines for use of the computer laboratory. Children should also bring morning tea and lunch for the day. Where preferred, food and drink vending machines will also be available. Cold-water drinking fountains will be available and accessible throughout the day.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please do not hesitate to contact the event organiser (Jess) if you have any concerns or queries regarding this event. Jess can be contacted by the following (in order of preference):

  • Email - admin@thematrixrecoded.com
  • Facebook - @tmr.coding4kids
  • Phone - 0415 050 743

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not required that you bring your ticket on the day; however, each child MUST be signed in AND out on the day.

For everyone's peace of mind, please do not make arrangements for your child to arrive/leave the premise without being signed in/out. We care a great deal about the safety and security of your child/children and the drop-off/pick-up routine is our way of making sure each child is safe at all times.
