Description

The Board of Directors and Executive Director of CODESPA AMERICA cordially invite you to join us for a cocktail reception and presentation at the Tower Club in Tysons Corner.

For over a decade, much of Central America has suffered from a severe economic crisis as well as endemic violence that has left hundreds of thousands dead and led to hundreds of thousands more migrating abroad. Many of these migrants have come to the United States and a large number have come to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

In response, and as part of its broader mission in Latin America and programs around the world, CODESPA AMERICA is launching a campaign to raise $200,000 to finance a project working with 1000 Guatemalan coffee farmers in distressed rural areas in the Eastern Highlands of Guatemala and to initiate collaboration with institutional partners in the Northern Virginia area to help Central American immigrants access increased economic opportunities. As part of that campaign, we are seeking sponsors for the organization of a fundraising golf tournament to be held this coming Spring 2018 on behalf of Central America.

CODESPA AMERICA is a US-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty in developing countries. Our mission is to enable the poor to produce more and better quality goods and to sell more at higher prices, generating incomes that allow them to provide for themselves, their families and their futures.

Working together with Fundación CODESPA in Spain, executing around 65 projects a year across 14 countries, since 1985, CODESPA has helped well over a million people improve their incomes and their lives.

Among many other projects in execution and a series of projects in the pipeline around the world, such as the project to be undertaken on behalf of Guatemalan coffee farmers and potential work with farmers in Nigeria, some of our current projects include work with soybean farmers in Angola, with women artisan textile producers in Bolivia and Peru financed by CHANEL Fondation, with panela farmers in Colombia, with banana farmers in Dominican Republic, and with cattle ranchers in Nicaragua.

We continuously seek new ways to offer impoverished producers in Africa, Asia and Latin America a path to dignified and rewarding work.

Come join us for an evening of drinks, learn more and help us launch a new initiative for people in great need!

Sincerely,

Bert Kalisch, Chairman
Robert Zulandi, Vice Chairman
Mark Hanssen, Executive Director
