Code/Art Creative Coding Camp for Girls in Grades 3-6
Code/Art Creative Coding Camp is a week-long virtual coding camp where girls will learn game design, 3D modeling, coded art, and animation. By week's end, campers will have a portfolio of projects to share (if they feel comfortable) with the group during the camp showcase!
Our experienced instructors will guide participants through two hours of live instruction in the morning with fun short activity breaks, a break for lunch, and resume in the afternoon with 90 minutes of self-paced project development where the instructors are available to help and answer questions as needed.
The virtual camp will be hosted on Zoom. It is a creative introduction to computer programming for girls in grades 3-6. No prior coding experience is required.

Google Chrome is the internet browser we'll be using to code and Zoom is the app we'll use to see and hear each other during camp sessions. Coding project files are saved in the cloud and will not have to be downloaded.
FAQ
What devices or materials are needed to participate?
Any desktop computer or laptop (including Chromebook and Surface Pro laptops) are good. While most tablet devices will also work, we advise against using them because they may be slower and may not all work for all online programs.
You will also need a wifi connection.
Is there any software I need to download or pay for?
No, we use free online platforms such as Khan Academy and MIT Scratch for our lessons. Instructions on creating these accounts will be given on the first day.
Can boys participate?
This camp is for girls and non-binary youth. Our mission is to increase the number of girls/women in CS, and the funds supporting this camp were designated for girls and non-binary youth only.
Who is eligible to participate?
This summer camp is open to rising 3rd - 6th grade girls and non-binary youth.

About the organizer
Code/Art is a non-profit whose mission is to increase the number of girls studying computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming. We strive to put young women, particularly young women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, on track for future tech careers by providing welcoming early coding programs that focus on art, creativity and social good.
Code/Art uses art as an onramp to coding for girls in grades 3-12 using its three key programs: after school CodeHER Clubs, Professional Development for K-12 teachers, and Code/Art Fest, an annual celebration of girls in coding.
