Event description

Description

kidOYO, founders of Code Long Island (codeLI.org), is bringing the opportunity to learn how to code to Eastern Long Island within its own learning community. In partnership with leading schools from the region, and thanks to support from Senator LaValle, kidOYO has deployed advanced learning infrastructure directly into classrooms, combining tools, methods, curriculum, and access to live CS/Engineering mentors. Across all of Long Island, this globally unique learning model is bringing real world opportunities directly to students and teachers. [Read More]

Code Eastern Long Island is FREE & open to families across our region, and students 7-17 are invited to attend. Parent attendance is required. This is NOT a drop-off style event. Community mentors (18+) are also invited to participate.

Laptop computers are required for participation. If you lack a laptop, reach out (info @ kidOYO.com ) for additional information, as hosting districts will attempt to make machines available to students based on need. While iPads make good consumer devices, they are not appropriate for production-grade learning and will not be useful generally in programs focused on learning to code using real tools and methods.

This event will be aimed at beginners, and will introduce two powerful languages for young learners. Both the Scratch and Python programming languages will be used during this live event. No software downloads will be required. To set up a free account in preparation for this event, visit https://codeeli.oyoclass.com
