Description

This course is for those that already know C syntax, but need to learn how to use it.

The course is given based around the popular AVR microcontroller, as used in the Arduino. However, this is not an Arduino programming course, this is pure Cprogramming. For conveniece and low cost we use an Arduino Nano microcontroller, AVR GCC compiler, and Eclipse IDE, to learn various techniques used in embedded programming.

Topics covered include: system initialization, interrupts, the stack, how to write assembly using C, object-oriented programming in C, state machines, communications, command processing, analog input, timers, memory usage, bootloaders, and more.

The course instructor has been programming microprocessors since the 1980’s, and has implemented embedded operating systems in C and assembly.

This hands-on course will have six sessions, held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Oct. 16th to Nov. 6th. Note there is no class on Monday Oct 23rd.

Monday, Oct 16th
Wednesday, Oct 18th
Wednesday, Oct 25th
Monday, Oct 30th
Wednesay, Nov. 1st
Monday, Nov. 6th

The course will have a maximum of eight participants.

This course is taught by industry veteran Tom Dowad. Tom is the founder of Before Technology Inc. He is Zen Maker Lab's electronics guru and is always cooking up some cool maker tech projects.
