As part of our Code a Game Workshop, we will host your child's project online for friends and family to play!
The concept of an endless runner is simple. You run until you die. Despite their simplicity, endless running games are among the most popular games in the mobile app store. In this workshop, we will develop what will capture the spirit of the endless runner game genre.
Students will develop a 2D endless runner. The basic game mechanics will be to jump and shoot. We will create obstacles that spawn randomly where the player have to react fast to avoid them.
On top of these simple mechanics we will also create power-ups that change the mechanics of the game.
In this course, students will learn more about character design by implementing different animation and frames. They will also learn about events, conditions and functions that will determine the game flow. Introduce randomness and import sound effects into the game.
We also conduct interactive group activities which demonstrate computer science concepts for beginner and eight hour workshops. This will be an unplugged activity (without computers) where we introduce your child to computational thinking through concepts such as binary numbers and data compression, separated from the distractions and technical details of having to use computers.
We end the workshop with a showcase where the children get to show off the game they made!
At iTrain Kids, we believe in quality of education which is why our half day workshops are capped at 12 students, and we ensure that at a minimum there is 1 trainer for every 6 students.
Anyone can learn to code with our workshop and no prior experience is required.
