Event description
Author Nina Barrett will discuss how she returned to the primary sources to develop "The Leopold and Loeb Files."

About this Event

In 1924, University of Chicago students Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb were young, rich, and looking for a thrill. The crime that came next—the brutal, cold-blood murder of 14-year-old Bobby Franks—would come to captivate the country and unfold into what many dubbed the crime of the century.

Author Nina Barrett will discuss how she returned to the primary sources that were usually destroyed as a matter of course and how, until now, these documents had not been part of the murder’s central narrative.

A cocktail reception with light appetizers will start at 5:30 pm and books will be available for sale and signing. The program begins at 6:00 pm followed by a Q & A session and more time for book sales and signing. The program price is $25 per person inclusive and the Club's cancellation policy is in effect. The Club adheres to a "business casual" dress code for this event -- no athletic wear, jeans or t-shirts. For more information, contact Club Services at 1.800.443.0578 or librarian@ulcc.org.
