Event Details

World-Class Culinary Event Returns to San Francisco!


At the heart of all Cochon555 Heritage BBQ events lies a culinary competition to promote family farming. Five chefs are each given one whole, heritage breed pig and one week to prepare the entire 200 pound animal. The winner is decided between a People's Vote and 24 Celebrity Judges, who then crown the winner, Boston's “Prince or Princess of Pork.” The winning chef advances to the year-end finale competition called Grand Cochon, to be held this year on October 1st in Chicago. Running in tandem to the culinary competition is the Somm Smackdown (rare and amazing wines paired with all dishes) and Punch Kings featuring five of the cities top barkeeps battling in whole-bottle competition. Included in your all-inclusive ticket is a special additon of sponsored bites and delights, here's a small sample below:

COCHON555 2017

Created in 2008 in response to the lack of education around heritage breed pigs, Cochon555 is a nose-to-tail competition dedicated to supporting family farmers and educating chefs and diners about the agricultural importance of utilizing Old World livestock. We work with every type of restaurant and bar imaginable – Mom-and-Pop, farm-to-table, BBQ, Michelin star - and our participating chefs all share one core value: they source products responsibly. Our epic 2017 culinary tour starts in New York City and culminates with the finale, Grand Cochon.
