Event Details

Heritage BBQ is a culinary competition featuring notable chefs cooking over fires with global flavors and timeless cooking techniques. Each chef is given a 180 to 200-pound heritage breed pig to create six dishes for a crowd of pork-loving enthusiasts. Chefs must then present a “Judge’s Plate” scored on utilization; global influences; cooking techniques; and overall flavor, then the winning team will be crowned the “BBQ King or Queen” of Boston. In addition to sampling 1,500 pounds of competitor’s dishes, the ticket includes “BBQ Traditions” - our fringe festival of flavor - where notable chefs prepare one dish from their favorite live-fire culture in a non-competitive spirit of collective feasting.

COCHON555 2017

Created in 2008 in response to the lack of education around heritage breed pigs, Cochon555 is a nose-to-tail competition dedicated to supporting family farmers and educating chefs and diners about the agricultural importance of utilizing Old World livestock. We work with every type of restaurant and bar imaginable – Mom-and-Pop, farm-to-table, BBQ, Michelin star - and our participating chefs all share one core value: they source products responsibly. Our epic 2017 culinary tour starts in New York City and culminates with the finale, Grand Cochon.
