Description
Join us for a 3 day hands-on intensive and learn how to build your own earthen wood-fired oven!
This course will cover all aspects of creating an earthen oven: design, materials, building, and finally heating and using the oven. We will use stone and clay harvested on site, and discuss the benefits of other materials used in its construction.
Come be immersed in a beautiful outdoor environment! Get your hands and feet muddy stomping and sculpting a fully functional oven. The weekend will conclude with a pizza party served hot and fresh from our efforts.
Leave the course with the experience and confidence to build your own wood-fired earthen oven at home.
Our Instructor:
Zeb Sweesy has been a natural builder and mud enthusiast since 2008, where he first discovered bio-construction while traveling in Central America. His background education is in fine art, film, and animation, and loves to bring his joy of creativity into every building project. Zeb has trained and worked with Mark Mazziotti of Red Earth Farms, Erica Ann Bush of Day One Design, and Dave Good of locally-based Atmosphere Design Build, along with a variety of others along the west coast. When his tool belt is off, he enjoys exploring nature, cooking delicious food, nurturing his family, and thinking about his next project.
