Event description

Description

Join us for a little clean-up on Coastal Cleanup Day, and be a part of the largest volunteer event for the environment in the world! Our efforts will focus on cleaning litter along Alameda Creek in Niles. This is a great opportunity to clean trash and litter before winter rains wash it downstream to the Bay. Your efforts help to inform scientists and policymakers about what is flowing to SF Bay and help the fish and wildlife sharing space with us.

Meet at 2 pm near 1004 Old Canyon Road in Fremont (just past Clarke Dr). There is parking along the road on the creek side where it widens some. We'll work until 4:00 pm.

Please wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that can get dirty (no sandals or flip-flops). We provide gloves and tools. The work isn't on much of a slope, but the ground can be uneven. The ground and vegetation will likely be cool and wet when we start, so please wear clothes that can get damp and possibly dirty. Please bring water for yourself in a re-usable bottle. Heavy rain cancels.

All participants need signed waiver forms (one for the ACA and one for Alameda County), and anyone under 18 needs a parental signature,
