Event description

Description

Please join Gillien Todd, J.D., Kathryn Stanley, Ph.D., and Sarah Hill, Ph.D. for an intensive coaching workshop designed to facilitate personal mastery and transformation through deep work on the childhood story.

All leaders are shaped by their formative experiences. Their earliest memories influence how they show up, how they interact with others, what triggers them, and how they respond to their personal triggers – whether they are aware, or unaware, of this impact.

Exceptional leadership coaches are able to skillfully elicit the childhood story that underpins a leader’s characteristic behavior, helping them to access a new depth of understanding about themselves. Gaining command of this deeply embedded story can be the singularly most transformative act any leader experiences in a coaching relationship. Yet to successfully guide leaders in this inner work, coaches, consultants, and other organizational practitioners must be in command of their own childhood story.

As a participant in this workshop, you will learn how to work with a leader's engrained behavior by exploring the role that their childhood story plays in driving it. We will guide you through a model for embarking on childhood story work – your own or that of your clients – as presented in Where Did You Learn to Behave Like That? A Coaching Guide to Working With Leaders by Sarah Hill, Ph.D. The model provides a path to safely and successfully elicit a childhood story from a client, identify their limiting internal narratives spawned by the childhood story, help them gain command over the story, and support them in writing a new narrative for the story, based on this greater perspective. On completion, you will have gained a foundation of understanding and a new level of coaching skill, through a deep journey into the reflective and dialogic processes of working with the impact of childhood stories.

This program is for:

  • Leaders wanting to understand more about how their childhood story influences their ability to lead, and,
  • Coaches and organizational practitioners who want to become proficient at working with client behaviors that emanate from their childhood story

The program includes:

  • 5-day non-residential workshop at the Endicott House in Dedham, MA
  • 2 one-hour coaching sessions via video conference with the faculty
  • Assessment of your communication propensities, using the Kantor Baseline Instrument
  • Access to a virtual interactive learning module
  • Class size is limited to 15 and a maximum four-to-one participant-to-faculty ratio ensures close guidance throughout the workshop

Cost: $3,650 USD, which includes lunch and continental breakfast.
