We will discuss different clinical education coaching strategies and their importance for supervising Speech-Language Pathologists.

6:30-6:45: Coaching for a Growth Mindset

6:45-7:00: A Coaching Toolkit for Clinical Education Leaders

7:00-7:20: Coaching Strategies Practice

7:20-7:30: Coaching Strategies Debrief

7:30-8:00: Developing personal growth goals and peer coaching strategies

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to describe coaching strategies and why they are important skills for SLPs who supervise students, SLPAs, and provide mentorship to staff.
  2. Participants will be able to demonstrate coaching strategies in their places of work to create development and growth in their staff, SLPAs, and in graduate student clinicians.
  3. Participants will identify 1-2 personal growth goals that could be supported by peer coaching and identify one more potential peer coaches in their network that can support their personal growth.

Speaker Bio

Lesley Maxwell, M.S., CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor, and the Associate Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. She in an expert in clinical education, supervision, and leadership development. Her clinical expertise is speech, language and literacy disorders in children. Coaching is an important took in her tool kit.

Parking

What are my parking options for getting to and from the event?

The public parking garage is Building 199 in the Navy Yard located at 13th St and 5th Ave. You can purchase a reduced rate parking voucher for $7 from us at the event. We can only accept cash for these vouchers. Without the vouchers, attendees will be responsible for the full cost of parking.

Tickets

Do I need to print out my ticket and bring it with me?

No; as long as you have registered, we can pull your name up on our attendees list. Please make sure to check in on the first floor by security, though, so we can mark down that you were in attendance and file for you to obtain your CEU credits.

ASHA CEUs

This course is being offered for 0.2 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level, Related area).

Participants are expected to be present for the entire program. Individuals who are not present for the full program will not be recommended for ASHA CEUs. No partial credit will be provided.
