About this Event

EDIT: In light of the Coronavirus, this event has been rescheduled for Tuesday 26th May. If we are still in lockdown when this date comes around, we will move the event online. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

An uplifting talks and clothes swap social event for women in business.

Join us for an evening of women inspiring women with three guest speakers and a clothes swap. We love creating social events for business women that are far removed from traditional networking, where we inspire you to think more about connecting and collaborating, and less about sales. Each month three inspiring women take to centre stage to share their personal stories with you, centred around a monthly theme. The evening concludes with a a clothes swap. Bring up to ten items of your pre-loved clothes and shoes and swap them for others' items. We’ll have a table for all items and you can just help yourself at the end of the evening to what you fancy :) Surplus clothes are donated to our local homeless charity EmmausTo find out more about Co-Women: Coworking | Events | Membership and more events like this one, sign up for our newsletter at www.co-women.org

Sharron Davis: Free Your Wardrobe

How I beat my addiction to fast fashion and accidentally built a pre-loved fashion community.

I’ve worked in healthcare IT for almost 30 years. In January 2010 I quit my job as a Product Manager to travel in SE Asia and write a novel. I’ve run my own software consultancy for the past 9 years. My real passion is fashion. In September I setup an initiative called Free Your Wardrobe. We now have almost 500 members and have rehomed 400 garments.

Claire Sumners: How to Navigate the Norm of Now.

How to cope in this world as a mama with climate change and plastic pollution affecting your children’s future.

Beach cleaner

Regional Rep for Surfers Against Sewage

Motherless mother

Katie Briggs: Finding my very own part in solving our global material waste problem

The world is overwhelmed with all sorts of material waste. I repurpose fabric from events and I’ve diverted over 900kg of it from landfill so far. But the impact I want to talk about takes more than numbers to explain, it’s a personal journey and sharing it feels very important.

During my previous career in art and events, I saw an issue with material waste that desperately needed a solution. I shifted to start up The Textile Review with a mission to reduce the environmental and social impact of its production and waste. I now run the social enterprise from my Brighton studio with plans to expand in the coming months!
