Description

RAPID PROTOTYPING WORKSHOP SERIES

Presented by the Anchorage Makerspace in partnership with SWAMC and MAKE

CNC Workshop | CNC Fabrication Track part 2 of 2

Suggested Donation: $40

Max class size: 8 people

In this hands-on workshop, students will apply the techniques learned in the previous class to machine a design of their choosing on either the X-Carve or Blackfoot CnC. Students may either provide their own design and materials, or choose a sample design and sample materials available in the shop.

About the CNC Fabrication Track

A CNC machine is useful for rapid prototyping and can cut, carve, machine, and mill in wood, mdf, plastics, foams, and aluminum. In this series, students will learn how to operate a small and large CNC machine on various materials, and machine and take home a design of their own.

Instructor | Will Ott

Will is a mechanical engineer, small business owner, and CNC enthusiast. He bought a Shapeoko 2 back in December 2014 after reading about it in Popular Mechanics Magazine. Since then he has used personal and AMS CNC equipment to manufacture products such as bottle openers, signs, home items, and custom parts from diverse materials, including: wood, acrylic, cork, HDPE, and aluminum.
