About this Event
The CMMA2021 is a two and half day conference which convenes approximately 350 participants from 4 continents, 30 countries and over 100 institutions to engage in discussions with key stakeholders (policymakers, educators, social workers, activists, bloggers, journalist, representatives of communities.
Through numerous workshops and podiums as well as exhibition, music and performance formats. The participants enter a discursive exchange on political moods and opinions in times of "Post Pandemic Era".
Methods are exchanged and strategies are developed to find a way to deal with media reporting on issues of migration, xenophobia, fake news, hate-speech and also de-colonizing cultural journalism with positive counter-narratives, social commitment, and exile-born creativity.
This year, CMMA2021 Conference theme is “Looking Back, Thinking Ahead” and will focus on the importance of inclusion, diversity, and participation within the Media and Art sector (community & mainstream).
The CMMA2021 sees media, arts, and culture as important enablers of freedom of expression, producers of counter alternative narratives, and promoters of media pluralism and cultural diversity.
The objective is to outline and:
- Build capacity and a wider base of civil society organizations to engage in the compacts process on safe, orderly regular migration and lift regional and aligned political advocacy goals.
- Develop a global campaign on racial discrimination and Xenophobia.
- Promote exchanges, synergies and the sharing of good practices, especially in the field, for ethical coverage of migration issues.
- Promote cooperation between different stakeholders including international organizations, civil society, media and arts professionals.
- Proactively assert key practical recommendations that we can achieve with solid advocacy - for example, climate action, combating Hate speeches in media, de-colonizing cultural journalism and Arts Institutions.
- Strengthen and building alliances – across our diverse sectors to build another world and bring an end to the current global racial inequality.
