Clutter, Chaos, and the Brain: Supporting Neurodiverse Clients at Home

For many neurodiverse clients, clutter and chaos at home isn’t just about organization -- it’s about regulation. This 40-minute workshop explores how executive function challenges and sensory sensitivities affect clients’ ability to maintain their home environments - and how a disorganized space can reinforce cycles of overwhelm and shame.

Led by Executive Function Coach & Professional Organizer Amanda Worsley, this session helps therapists understand why clutter can be so emotionally charged and how to talk about it with compassion and curiosity.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize the connection between environment, emotion, and executive function.
  • Approach conversations about clutter without shame or judgment.
  • Identify when disorganization may indicate deeper regulation issues or potential hoarding disorder.
  • Know when to refer clients for organizing support.

Who Should Attend
Therapists, coaches, and mental-health professionals who work with clients managing ADHD, Autism, anxiety, trauma, or chronic disorganization.
