Event description

Description

We just launched our new eco-literacy program: Closer to Nature! This is a wonderful opportunity for our youth here in Somerville, Massachusetts, to get close and personal with our urban wildlife. It is a limited size class.

Closer to Nature is a collaboration between the Center for Arts at the Armory and Earthwise Aware. The program is designed to encourage youth ages 11 to 16 to explore the natural world around them through artistic creativity using natural and found objects, nature & naturalist walks, journaling, and app usage among other activities. The youth will eventually become mentors in their communities by taking part in awareness programs and sharing their knowledge with their schools, friends, younger and older family members.

Date & Time: The nature group will meet every other week on Saturday mornings, starting January,6th 2018 through March 31st, 2018, from 10 am to 12:30 pm to learn about theme-based nature topics through storytelling, walks, natural object collection, and creation. We will offer this program per season, following the school seasonal structure having a Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall session.

Cost: The cost of the program is $150 for the whole season (sliding scale available upon request).
