Close Shave Chorus and guests Pacific Coast Sound at St Mary's Cathedral
Wed, Jun 14, 2017, 7:30 PM
As part of Glasgow's West End Festival, current Orpheus Trophy holder's Close Shave Chorus, are pleased to perform their usual mix of Great American Songbook standards and a selection of more contemporary material in an acapella evening alongside special guests, Pacific Coast Sound, direct from the USA. Timetabling and venue capacity may have relocated us to the acoustically delightful St Mary's Cathedral in GWR rather than our more usual spot in the Kibble Palace at the Botanics, but we hope our regulars, recent converts and the musically curious will come along for what has been for us for a long while now, our favourite gig on the calendar. This time we have the additional treat of hosting the excellent Pacific Coast Sound for the inaugural event of their UK tour. Unaccompanied, unamplified and uninhibited, this is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on in a public place. This is singing that might make you laugh and could make you cry, but will make you glad you got out of the house to hear just how good practiced ordinary voices can sound when singing extraordinarily good arrangements of songs that will still be around a hundred years from now.
