Event description

Description

Join us for a night of comedy, poetry and performance to explore what mental health and wellbeing means in the 21st Century.

You Can’t Know This
by Eve Was Framed

Developed from the writer’s experiences as service user, activist and researcher YOU CAN’T KNOW THIS explores some of the quirks and challenges of a therapeutic relationship from both sides. The relationship is the key to success but how good are we at communicating what that means and dealing with the parts that don’t always make sense?

Sarah Strutt

Sarah’s poetry shares their experience of living with a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder. Exploring the management of intense rapid fluctuations in emotions, hear Sarah’s reflections on particularly testing challenges. “A key feature of life is the constant feeling of loneliness regardless of social contact,” writes Sarah who hopes to expose the audience to the complexity of life, and the effects of this emotional onslaught.

Comedy, Creativity & Craziness
by Headspace

A stand-up comedy performance performed by comedians with lived experience of mental illness. A hard hitting, enlightening and hilarious take on how society and services see mental illness.

Headspace, based at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre, is an exciting and creative outlet for people with Mental Health issues, without direct focus upon these. A forum where people can freely express their individuality and utilise their skills by focusing on positive, personal, social and professional achievement and success, not on mental health. Headspace promotes positive change for the individual and challenges misconceptions often held by society.
