Description:

This 2 day lecture/lab course is designed to provide the clinician with solid evidence-based information and effective manual therapy techniques for male and female patients with pelvic pain. Participants will receive 15 CEU hours for this course.

Course Objectives: The participant will be able to:

  • Describe and demonstrate the influence of male and female musculoskeletal alignment on pelvic pain

  • Describe possible causes of coccydynia and demonstrate 3 manual therapy treatment techniques

  • Explain the 4 types of vulvodynia and demonstrate 3 manual therapy treatment techniques

  • Explain vestibulodynia and demonstrate 3 manual treatment techniques

  • Explain vaginismus/anismus and demonstrate 3 manual treatment techniques

  • Describe pudendal neuralgia and demonstrate 3 manual therapy treatment techniques

  • Describe the diagnostic difference between yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis

  • Describe dermatologic conditions of lichens sclerosis, lichens planus, chronic simplex and demonstrate 3 manual therapy treatment techniques

  • Describe the role of hormones, contraceptives and pharmacologic agents on pelvic pain

  • Describe the visceral-somatic influence in pelvic pain

  • Describe the influences of male pelvic pain on male fertility

  • Describe 3 major musculoskeletal issues that may manifest as male pelvic pain

  • Demonstrate 3 manual therapy techniques to reduce male pelvic pain
