Event description
Clinical Connections: Healing while Healing, from Talk to Walk (7th Annual Fundraiser and Continuing Education Event)

About this Event

Event: CE Event for Psychologists and Social Workers

Event Title: Clinical Connections: Healing while Healing, from Talk to Walk (Discourse on how to safeguard our clinical work from Implicit Bias and Racial Inequality)(Intermediate Level)

How do I counsel clients about the social and emotional assaults directed at their identities when I fear that I might have caused them in others? How do I gear my work to be anti-racist? How do I not micro-aggress when I am just learning what that means? How do I first do no harm? Questions like these can paralyze majority standing clinicians as they provide therapy to diverse populations. This event offers information, support, and guidance to clinicians who fear doing harm as they engage in reflections and initiatives necessary to address and overturn racist, genderist, and elitist systems. Voices of clinicians of inter-sectional experiences share their learning and strategies for reaching across difference, maintaining personal accountability, and ensuring that clients remain centralized in the clinical relationship.

Learning Objectives:

To highlight the ways in which clinician hesitancy and process can affect the clinical relationship

To offer strategies and practical efforts to strengthen the therapeutic alliance across difference

To amplify the knowledge and experiences of clinicians who have found success in engaging across difference
