PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Advances in the management of hemophilia A have extended the life expectancy of persons with hemophilia A (PwHA) close to that of the general population, and the hemophilia care team faces new challenges in the treatment of their adult patients. This small-group, case discussion activity will focus on key clinical issues encountered in adults with hemophilia A, including:

  • Collaborating with cardiologists to safely and effectively manage comorbid cardiovascular disease
  • Considerations for prophylaxis in PwHA that require antiplatelet therapy
  • Addressing risk factors for cardiovascular disease in PwHA
  • Personalizing treatment plans to prevent and manage joint bleeds in adult patients
  • Engaging PwHA to improve adherence to treatment plans
