Elisabeth von Trapp and Peppino D'Agostino will perform, supported by members of The Anglican Singers, and St. James and St. Ann's choirs.

Proceeds from this concert will support Operation Renew Prosthetics. Bill Endicott, OPR's co-founder, will also be present and speak.

The concert, hosted by historic St. James Episcopal Church in New London, CT, features two world-class musicians: acoustic guitar virtuoso and composer Peppino D’Agostino, and brilliant singer / guitarist / songwriter Elisabeth von Trapp, of the world-famous Trapp Family Singers.

The theme Climb Ev’ry Mountain from The Sound of Music is symbolic of the Ukrainian amputees, as well as a nod to Elisabeth’s famous family story - sure to resonate with our audience.

Operation Renew Prosthetics (ORP), actively coordinates the transportation and treatment of Ukrainian soldier amputees (eleven to date, with more on the way) at Medical Center for Orthotics and Prosthetics (MCOP), where they receive state-of-the-art artificial limbs and rehabilitation. This facility also has served Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, and is among the most capable in the world at providing prosthetics for complex blast injuries. Recent press coverage of their work includes: Stars and Stripes (Oct. 11, 2022), The Times of London (Oct. 13, 2022), CBS News “Sunday Morning” (Nov. 27, 2022), and The Washington Post (Dec. 18, 2022). ORP, a visionary, humanitarian foundation was recently formed in Bethesda, Maryland by Bill Endicott (former winning USA Olympic whitewater canoe/kayak coach and former White House assistant), his wife Abbie Bingham Endicott, and Mike Corcoran, CEO of the MCOP, in Silver Spring, Maryland. ORP operates as an arm of the large non-profit 501(c)(3) Brother’s Brother Foundation, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

About Elizabeth von Trapp

For Elisabeth von Trapp, “ the sounds of music “ are part of her earliest memories. Born and raised in Vermont, Elisabeth is the granddaughter of the legendary Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired The Sound of Music. Singing professionally since childhood, Elisabeth has enthralled audiences from European cathedrals to Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center.

Inspired by her father Werner von Trapp’s guitar playing and singing, Elisabeth has carried on the legacy of the internationally renowned Trapp Family Singers. She began taking piano lessons when she was eight and by the age of sixteen she was playing guitar and traveling the back roads of New England performing with her siblings at weddings, gospel meetings and town halls.

Building on her famed family’s passion for music, Elisabeth has created her own artistic style, at once ethereal and earthy, delicate and powerful. Listeners have likened her to Judy Collins and Loreena McKennitt. Critics have called her voice ...“ hauntingly clear “ “ joyfully expressive “ and “ simply beautiful.” Read more.

About Peppino D'Agostino

Peppino D’Agostino emerged on the acoustic guitar scene in the early 80’s as a leading member of the second wave of the great fingerstylists that helped redefine the instrument in the ’90s. His remarkable technique, penchant for open tunings, and percussive effects are the basis of his unique compositional style which has been inspiring musicians and audiences alike for decades. Add to that his natural warmth, playfulness, and broad musical tastes and you have the recipe for what he calls “minestrone music”. His virtuosity and his emotional charge have also had a significant influence on the younger generation of fingerstyle guitarists. D’Agostino continues to evolve and grow in ways that would have been hard to predict when he first showcased his melodic yet emotionally intense style on the recordings Acoustic Spirit, Close to the Heart, and Every Step of the Way which was named one of the top three acoustic guitar albums of all time by Acoustic Guitar magazine readers.
