Event description

Description

How is climate change affecting New York State and what can you do about it?

Climate change has already affected New York State's natural resources, infrastructure, communities and residents. Mark Lowery, a 30-year veteran of the NYS DEC will describe anticipated future effects of climate change, the level of greenhouse gas emissions reductions needed to avoid catastrophic effects, and New York State programs to reduce greenhouse emissions and adapt to unavoidable effects of climate change. The program will include a description of the state’s Climate Smart Communities program, which supports local climate action and includes ways for individuals to be involved.
