Event description

Description

We are on the cusp of adopting clean energy at a scale never seen before. For renewable power to continue its rapid advancement, the right decisions need to be taken in terms of technologies, financing and local accountability. The choice societies face is whether they resist change, passively let it happen or actively shape the transition. Each country’s, province’s and city’s priorities and decisions now will determine how their economies perform and how their societies benefit long into the future.

The British Consulate General Calgary invites you to join speakers from Imperial College, the London School of Economics, the London Stock Exchange and Mount Royal University, for a seminar on the new policies, emerging technologies and business models required to thrive in a world of low carbon transition and what this means for Alberta.

Speakers:

- Alyssa Gilbert from Imperial College;
- Dr. Maria Carvalho from the London School of Economics;
- Dr. Connie Van der Byl from Mount Royal University; and
- Sarah Baker from the London Stock Exchange and the City of London's Green Finance Initiative.

Moderator:

- David Milia from the University of Calgary.

This event is a part of the City of Calgary Climate Symposium and is held in conjunction with the Centre of Corporate Sustainability at the Haskayne School of Business and the Institute for Environmental Sustainability at Mount Royal University.
