Event description
A discussion with California policy leaders on actions and solutions to solving climate change, humanity's greatest threat.

About this Event

We all know by now that climate change is one of the greatest threats the planet has ever faced, and that it's caused by us, humans, burning fossil fuels. But solutions to the climate crisis are available and California has long been leading the way through community action, regulation, and consumer behavior.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby Monterey County, the Center for the Blue Economy, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium invite you to dive into policy and local community solutions to climate change.

72% of Americans believe that global warming is a threat and the government should regulate carbon dioxide as a pollutant - and yet only 36% say they ever talk about climate change. Climate scientists, economists, and national security experts across the political spectrum agree that climate change threatens the security of our nation, our economic security, and the health of all citizens, especially the poor, children, and the elderly.

Panelists will discuss the urgent need for – and availability of – solutions to reduce fossil fuel emissions; debate the costs and benefits of current and proposed green initiatives; and empower the audience to advocate and vote for regional and national climate solutions.

Keynote speaker: Congressman Jimmy Panetta
