CLIMATE CHANGE, SUSTAINABILITY, AND RESILIENCY: UNDERSTANDING ITS LONG-TERM EFFECT ON OAHU

Have you noticed natural disasters occurring all over the world recently? Hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes, and rising tides have been occurring more frequently in recent history. How well do we understand these phenomenon and its impact on our island home?

Josh Stanbro, Chief Resilience Officer for the City & County of Honolulu and the Executive Director of the newly created Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency, will give an overview of the concept of resiliency, introduce his new office and its role on Oahu, and discuss the recent events that have occurred in Houston and Florida and the tidal change here and how they factor into our understanding of long-term resilience here on Oahu.
