CLIMATE CHANGE: 5 DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES TO ENGAGE

Are you thinking more and more about how to help to slow down climate change? Do you find it difficult to understand where and how to contribute? Are you struggling for motivation to start your personal contribution to save our Planet? Well then, let's start with 5 perspectives of sustainable fashion, marine biology, melting of the Arctic, food and infections, lighting.

Join us and the five speakers to what promises to be a fascinating and a thought-provoking discussion to get some answers, acquire valuable information and get inspired yourself to contribute to a more sustainable society.

Lisa Thörnqvist, the designer and founder of the Sustainable Fashion brand ORES, will talk about sustainable fashion from the perspective of an Eco textile designer. She has a passion for natural textile and environmental issues. Just think how many conscious decisions it takes to create sustainable collections!

Dr Tomas Didrikas, Fisheries Scientist at Marine and Freshwater Research Institute in Iceland will talk about the climate change effects on the Baltic Sea. He has more than 20 years of experience as a scientist and consultant with different aspects of marine biology in the Baltic Sea.

Vilmantas Prėskienis, PhD candidate at Quebec University in Canada, will talk about climate warming in the Arctic and permafrost areas. His main research interests are polar-alpine environments and permafrost-atmosphere carbon feedbacks. Despite the Arctic focus, Vilmantas is happy to answer general questions related to global climate changes.

Gražina Mirinavičiūtė, Scientific Officer Epidemic Intelligence at European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Stockholm will talk about climate change, food and infections.

Viktorija Misiūnaitė, Architectural Lighting Design will talk about the role of lighting as an environmental element in a context of sustainability. The shift in the lighting industry brings advantages but also raises new questions.


Coffee/tea and snacks will be provided.



Entrance fee: members - free; members of the Lithuanian Youth Society - 75 SEK (5 places); other guests - 150 SEK
