Learn how to communicate more effectively about climate change using research-based guidance developed specifically for land trusts by LTA.

About this Event

The objectives of this workshop are to

  1. reinforce foundational communication principles and
  2. learn how to use best practices to generate effective communication products focusing on climate change, using examples of work by peers

This will include discussion of climate-communication pitfalls and recommendations, opportunities to practice communication skills through hands-on activities, and structured time to workshop your own communication products with feedback from peers.

Note that the workshop will be held in the Farm Life Center at Drumlin Farm, Mass Audubon, Lincoln.

Organizer Description This MassLand workshop is held in partnership with the Climate Communications Expert Work Group (including UMass Amherst, Mass Audubon, New England Forestry Foundation, Harvard Forest) that is affiliated with Mass ECAN (Massachusetts Ecosystem Climate Adaptation Network). Mass ECAN is a community of practice for climate adaptation practitioners and researchers who are interested in ecosystem resilience and natural resources conservation. Across our state, Mass ECAN members are reducing the negative impacts of climate change on ecosystem functionality and services, and biodiversity and species conservation. Other members are interested in where ecosystem resilience intersects with other sectors, such as transportation, or provides co-benefits biodiversity and species conservation. Members are affiliated with a variety of organizations across academic institutions, non-profits, businesses, and federal, state, regional, and local agencies.
