Climate and Security: Advancing A Gender Lens
Event Information
About this event
The United Nations Joint Programme on Women, Natural Resources, Climate and Peace and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security invite you to a discussion on the gender dimensions of climate change.
In this critical moment of global crisis, there is an opportunity to “build back better” and create a more inclusive and sustainable post-COVID world. Join Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, leading activists, policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners for a discussion on the gender dimensions of climate change. The panel will highlight the associated security risks, and share recommendations for advancing this agenda in ongoing policy debates and emerging investments. This event also marks the launch of two important new reports: the Joint Programme’s report “Gender, Climate and Security: Sustaining Inclusive Peace on the Frontlines of Climate Change” and GIWPS’ report “Women Building Resilient Cities in the Context of Climate Change: Lessons from Sierra Leone.”
