Cleverlands: What America Can Learn from the World's Most Successful School...
Event Information
Description
The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning is honored to be the first American host of Lucy Crehan, the author of Cleverlands: The Secrets Behind the Success of the World’s Education Superpowers. Lucy’s firsthand, international experience researching what makes for great teachers and schools in Finland, Japan, Singapore, Shanghai, and Canada provides an important perspective for teachers, school leaders, and policymakers considering the future of education in the United States.
Lucy is an education explorer and international education consultant. She taught science at a secondary school in London before completing a Masters in Education at Cambridge. She then spent time working in schools and living with teachers in six 'top-performing' education systems: the basis for her book, Cleverlands: The Secrets Behind The Success of the World's Education Superpowers, one of The Economist’s "Books of the Year 2016." On her return, Lucy wrote a book on teacher career structures for IIEP UNESCO and spent a year working as part of a team advising foreign governments on education reform at the Education Development Trust. She is now working as a freelance education consultant.
Copies of Cleverlands will be available for purchase and signing by the author. According to The Economist,"[Lucy Crehan's] book is a powerful defence of the idea that there is a lot to learn from how other countries learn."
